Tragedy struck the Troutman family when, in 1999, Roger was shot to death by his brother Larry, who subsequently, turned the gun on himself and comitted suicide. He lived a full life filled with love, laughter, and adventure. He was an avid tennis player into his 80s. In his retirement years, Roger and Joan enjoyed traveling, great food and jazz music, and spending time with many dear friends. He was a born salesman and worked at GM/Cadillac for over 30 years in Detroit, Minneapolis, and Fargo, ND. Roger served in the Army during the Korean War. Roger was survived by his six sons and five daughters his eldest son, Roger Lynch Troutman Jr., died of head injuries just a few years after the murder of his father (Janu January 22, 2003). ![]() Preceded in death by parents Scott and Elsie brothers Rae and Wally first wife Ingrid and stepson Steven Axness. During Roger's funeral, his nephew Clet Troutman performed a talk-box rendition of 'Amazing Grace'. He is survived by Joan, his loving wife of 48 yrs children Jerry Troutman, June (Jim) Lezon and Jill Troutman stepdaughter Sharon (Tom) Griffin eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
